Open Play Policy

Cancelations and No Shows

Due to a growing number of "no-shows," if you must cancel your session, we require that you remove your name by 10AM the day before you are scheduled to play. If you are on the waitlist, please check the list regularly or remove your name. We have begun tracking those who miss sessions and we will take action if we begin to see a trend.

Court Rotation System

In Pickleball open play sessions, there will be players waiting to join the next game. We use one of two systems defined below to ensure everyone gets a chance to play:

Double Queue System

Use this system when there are 4 or more people waiting on the side. It uses either one of the paddle racks installed at the court, or a temporary “rack”, which is a row of paddles on the ground. The rack consists of two queues. An indicator marks which queue is “up next”

  1. All 4 players leaving the court, add your paddles to the winner or the loser ends of queues - W queue for winners, L queue for others. The ends are usually the insides (see diagram)

  2. Fill the now available court from the queue with indicator. One person moves the “up next” indicator to the other queue. i.e. courts will be filled by players from alternate winner/loser queue.

Single Queue System

Use this system when there are 3 or fewer people waiting on the side. It uses either one of the paddle rack installed at the court, or a temporary “rack” on the ground. Make a single queue on the rack. There is no need for any “up next” indicator.

  1. The winning team stays on the court for the next game, and split up to play on opposite side. However if one or both of these players has already played two consecutive games, then leave the court as well.

  2. The loosing team leaves the court and add their paddles to the end of the queue on the rack.

  3. Fill the now open court with paddles from the rack starting from the front of the queue. Optionally move all the paddles forward to keep the front of the queue at the edge of the rack.
